About Scout Hall

Scout Hall is owned by Mill Valley Scout Hall, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving all the youth of Mill Valley and Southern Marin, regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. It is unaffiliated with either the Boy Scouts of America or the Girls Scouts of America, although it is used extensively by both organizations. The Hall receives no funding or financial support from either organization. It is used as a meeting place for a variety of youth groups.

 

Mission Statement

The mission of Mill Valley Scout Hall is to provide a facility where youth organizations located in Mill Valley and the greater Southern Marin County community can meet in a safe and welcoming environment. The hall is also available to the public as an emergency shelter when the need for such occurs.

  

Board of Directors

Mill Valley Scout Hall Inc. is governed and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors:

 

Our Board members are representative of the community we serve. Are all long-time Mill Valley area residents and have a variety of skills and expertise that enable us to operate Scout Hall efficiently and effectively; two are general contractors with extensive contacts in the construction industry, one has property management backgrounds, one has advanced accountancy skills, all have deep roots in the community and many invaluable community contacts.

 

Eric Erickson (Treasurer) grew up in Mill Valley, where he has raised three adult children. He has been the Finance and Human Resources Director for the City of Mill Valley since 2002. Prior to that, Eric worked in the public and private sectors, including public housing, software development, maritime and mining. He has a BS degree in Accounting from the University of San Francisco. He is a past Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1. Eric has been on the Board since 1997.
 

Roberta Keller (Secretary) is a wife, mother, and grandmother who has lived in Mill Valley since 1969. She has been a community volunteer since 1971, currently with the Richardson Bay Girl Scouts, Rotary (as the Event Coordinator), and Mill Valley CERT, where she is co-chair of Division 6B. Roberta is a “Get Ready” instructor who has helped many of our citizens prepare for emergency.

C.J. Carrillo is a long-time resident of Sausalito and Mill Valley.  He is a U.S. Army retired Master Sergeant and was the owner of Happy House Handyman Inc. until his retirement in 2014.  He is an Eagle Scout and former Scoutmaster of Mill Valley Troop 1.  Currently, he serves on the Executive Council of the Marin Council of Boy Scouts of America and is active in several community organization.  He now serves as the First Vice Commander of American Legion Post 313, Larkspur, CA.

Greg Everage (President) has had a long career in technical, creative, marketing and managerial positions in all aspects of media. He is currently the Senior Manager, Creative Services, at Nintendo of America. Before joining Nintendo, Greg served as the Consulting Manager of Operations & Technical Support at Google's "Studio G" and held creative and production positions at other national and international firms specializing in 2D and 3D animation, audio, live action production, broadcast, gaming, and digital content creation and distribution, to name a few.  An Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm, Greg is the proud father of Star Scout in Mill Valley's Troop 1.

Nikki McKennedy is a regulatory attorney who works at the California Department of Insurance, enforcing prior approval requirements for rate changes by property and casualty insurers in California.  Before joining the state government in 2012, Nikki spent 15 years as a private defense litigator in product liability, toxic torts, medical and dental malpractice, environmental and real estate law.  Nikki has been a long-time advocate of children’s safety in consumer products and sleep environments, and served on the Board of Directors of The Danny Foundation 1998-2005 and Keeping Babies Safe 2007-2009.  Presently Nikki is the proud leader of her daughter’s very energetic Cadette Girl Scout troop, and she is also the Leader Support Manager for all girl scout troops in the Richardson Bay Girl Scout Service Unit in Southern Marin.  Her husband and son enjoy being active members in Cub Scout Pack 33.  Both her children love swimming for the Strawberry Seals swim team.

Susan Moxon (Chair of Fundraising Committee) is a Mill Valley resident since 1974. In 1966, she joined IBM and began a successful career as a systems engineer and product designer and support. She retired from her work in IT in 1985 and joined her husband in the family construction and property management business. She was a charter member of Mill Valley’s Emergency Preparedness Commission in 1991 and wrote the City’s PREP (Personal Responsibility for Emergency Preparedness) handbook, which has since been adapted for use throughout Marin County and which is the basis for the county-wide Get Ready program. She also designed and implemented the Mill Valley School District’s and Tam High School’s emergency preparedness programs. She has been a Cub Scout den mother and an active participant in the Parent Committee of Mill Valley’s Boy Scout Troop 1, and is the mother of two Eagle Scouts.

 

Michael Reading (Chair of Construction Committee) grew up in Tiburon, attending Redwood High School and then California State University in Sacramento.  He is Vice President of TriMark Federighi Design, a commercial kitchen equipment construction company which specializes in design/build projects. He lives in Mill Valley with his wife Sharon, and has two grown children.  Michael is a member of the Executive Board of the Marin Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is an officer holding the position of CFO on the Regatta Business Owners Association Board in Richmond, Ca. Along with his family, he is a member of the United Methodist Church in Mill Valley.


Jim Simkalo grew up in Marin County and is a Redwood High School graduate.  He, his wife Karen Betzner, and their two sons have lived in Mill Valley since 1986.  Jim was a longtime coach in the Mill Valley Little League and Soccer Club.  He is currently the District Commissioner for the Marin Council of Boy Scouts and is a past-President of the Mill Valley Rotary Club.  Jim owns and operates a real estate investment and mortgage business in Sausalito.
